Yesterday’s weather sucked. Big time.
The humidity here hit me like a wall, as soon as I left my AC’d building. I knew it was going to be a tough one.
Luckily, it was also going to be a short one… We had planned on running 80 minutes per the training schedule, but I decided that 60 minutes would be ideal, seeing we were having a much-needed group happy hour after the run. As soon as we started and I realized how sucky the weather really was, we all agreed to cut it short to 40 minutes. Running in this humidity for 40 minutes is the same as running in ideal weather for 80 minutes, right? RIGHT??
We still ended up walking the last mile or so, because we were already dripping in sweat, and also because walking = more talking. Could we have run the whole thing? Well, sure. But we really weren’t feeling it. It was one of those runs that you don’t even feel guilty about cutting it short.
You know how hard it is running against a strong headwind? It kind of felt like that, except there wasn’t even a breeze, the air just was that thick, it was hard running through it. Running in soup all right.
Today’s humidity is at 62% — I can’t even imagine how much it was yesterday, seeing the weather today is much nicer. Yet another day with a heat advisory in effect.
Luckily? Saturday’s forecast calls for 87 degrees and “low humidity” — I freaking forecast another Saturday nice long run!
The happy hour was a lot of fun — our biggest yet since about 40 people came out. I was a big FAIL because I had my camera with me, but didn’t take one picture! I also didn’t mingle nearly as much as I should, seeing that I didn’t know a lot of the people that came out, as some of them usually come out on Tuesdays and Thursdays when I do my run commute and run solo.
This morning I was way too lazy to wake up early and run to work, so I’m running home instead.
