Remember how 2 months ago we went to Rio? And I promised to post pictures? Then I never did? I guess moving to Manila made me just a little too busy to talk about our trip.
But, like any other trip I have ever taken to Rio, we had a wonderful time. I mean, it’s Brazil after all. And I get to hang out here daily…
I recently heard from one of Karl’s coworkers that he has no interest in ever going to South America, because there’s nothing there that interests him (yes, and he said that in front of me, the Brazilian). Whatever suits your boat. But really? Nothing to see?
So in Rio, we went to the beach a lot (I really AM happiest when I’m at the beach)…
Since it was right before Easter, Karl got to experience for the first time the easter-egg craziness in Brazil. Chocolate tunnels in the supermarkets!
I ate my share of delicious tropical fruit…
Including a suspicious looking papaya…
Lots of my favorite chocolate easter eggs (it’s a hollow egg that opens in half, made of your favorite chocolate, with tiny chocolates inside)…
A ton of delicious melt-in-your-mouth sushi…
Way too much barbeque and all-you-can-eat pizza (including dessert pizzas…)
Hung out with family and friends…
Visited the area of Lapa (Karl’s first time!) for drinks…
I had a few strawberry caipirinhas…
And Karl finally got to see the Christ the Redeemer Statue on a non-cloudy day (it only took him 3 tries! We always get the ONE cloud stuck right at the mountain…). Tomorrow, I’ll post those pictures – they deserve a post of their own!
The beach, the food, the drinks – SO awesome! I have to admit though the close up of the little puffer fish guy kinda creeped me out.
At least it was a little one! On our honeymoon we found a HUGE one dead on the beach. With weird eyes and everything. Now THAT was creepy. (No really: scroll down for the picture: https://irunyourun.wordpress.com/2010/12/30/honeymooning/)
I’m seriously traumatized. The first two of y’all holding it, ok. The close up of it’s wonky eye?!!! Ahhhh I almost lost my oatmeal. Thanks a lot 😉
i love these Rio pics! they made my day. hope i can visit and run one day. but the papaya pics made me lol!
Right? Is the papaya with a surprise! I cut it open and was like WTF?
