That’s my motto lately…
Yesterday I got up early for physical therapy (which I’m going to stop since I found out it’s a FORTUNE here! It makes no sense since the doctor’s appt was so cheap!), then it was into weight lifting – yep, still using the book and been pretty good at maintaining the 3x a week schedule, let’s hope it continues like that.
I was exhausted once I was done, and didn’t have much free time until it was time to leave to pick Karl up from work so we could go to our diving classes.
But a mile is still better than nothing, so I jumped on the treadmill!
I ran the fist 3/4 of a mile at a 11:45 pace, but increased it considerably on the last quarter of a mile, finishing at a 6:30 pace for the last 0.15 of a mile. (All with no elevation, per doctor’s orders, so I know that’s not a true outside speed.) All together, I was able to complete a mile in exactly 10 minutes – not a big feat by any means, but it does show how I compensated the lack of speed during that last quarter of a mile, since I cut 1:45 of the predicted finish time by sprinting then.
I was sweaty and tired, but happy to have done at least something.
I ran with these shoes the whole time…
…but then at night the ball of my right foot was very sore – as if it was bruised. Maybe I came down too hard on the sprints since I usually wear the Five Fingers during a slow mile?
Who knows? But I’m taking a break from them until at least the end of the week to be on the safe side.
As for my treadmill video, I used the snow skiing one, and though it was ok, it was only 7:40 minutes long, so definitely not one to use for longer distances!
