Skirts! I miss them…

It’s no secret that I’ve put on over 20lbs in the last year.  And no secret I’m having a hard time getting rid of it, despite having a doctor’s diet to follow (it sounds silly, but I just can’t fit all the food she wants me to eat throughout the day).

It might come as a surprise to some that even though I’m that much bigger, I haven’t actually gone up a clothing size.  It just means that I can’t fit into everything in my closet or I’ll look too hoochy-mama, but half of my closet still fits, just doesn’t look as flattering!

But one thing I can no longer wear, because though it fits it just looks ridiculously with my humongous thighs, is my favorite running bottoms…

Ah, my running skirts…  I miss their incredible comfort, I miss the convenient pockets on the inside shorts, I miss how great they looked.  Yes, Skirts Sports is still my favorite running gear.  And no, they don’t pay me to say that (though I would gladly accept cash, kthanksbye).

So much so, that save for 4 skirts of different brands, I have quite a collection…  All these skirts gone to waste until I can wear them again!  (And before you think it’s nuts I spent so much on running skirts, about half of them were purchased during awesome sales.)

And since I’m busy showing you inside my drawers, might as well show the RIDICULOUS amount of workout clothes I own:  it fills up a whole chest.  Granted, lots of these shirts are race shirts, but still…

From top to bottom…  Sleeveless shirts…  (yes, I organize all my clothes by color, so what?)

Short sleeved shirts…

And lastly, shorts.

Lets not mention how there are no long-sleeved running shirts or capris in this mix (I only packed one of each for our move here), as everything is in storage in DC.

The good news is that since moving to Manila I haven’t bought many new things (maybe just a couple here and there).  The bad news is that I haven’t used them nearly enough.

In DC, it made sense to own so much workout gear – I ran 3-4 times a week, I played volleyball, I biked, I did bootcamp, I did bikram…  And I took care of my laundry every 3 weeks or so.  Here? I  wear it one day, 2 days later it’s clean and folded!

I can’t be the only one that owns so much workout gear, right?  RIGHT?  Please tell me I’m not alone!

Fingers crossed that I’ll fit into my running skirts again very soon…

I have bins full of workout clothes. I wish they were as neatly organized as yours!!!!

    • The folding then rolling the clothes help a lot organization wise! At least you can find things easily and grab things out without messing everything. I had less closet space in DC though, so they were a bit more crowded together!

Oh yEah, and that doesn’t even count the bins of sports equipment…

  3. Ugh, I can relate to the weight gain; I’ve put on 10 pounds since my first marathon. My clothes fit (but do not flatter), so it doesn’t seem too serious.

NO WAY!!! Haha, your collection of workout clothes is insane! I love it. Do you have tons of regular, everyday clothes, too?

I’ve got two pairs of good pairs of running capris; two crappy pairs I can only wear on runs shorter than 10 miles (or I chafe); one pair of long tights; two pairs of loose, insulated running pants; five short-sleeved shirts; five long-sleeved shirts; three jackets; and five sports bras.

Shoes are my thing. How many pairs do you have? I have two good pairs that I rotate, two pairs that I’ve had for a long time but still occasionally wear, and a messy pair I save for messy runs.

    • Sadly, I also have a ton of regular clothes (even though I always end up using the same thing), and a lot of shoes. I gave a bunch away to friends (a friend of mine got about 20 pairs), but I still have quite a bit. Since I’m not working, and most of them are pumps I wore for work, they’re going to waste 😦 I’m usually in flipflops (which I also have in many colors) most days!

  4. WOW! I’ve never seen so much gear…I love the pretty colors though and how you arrange them! The more gear you have—the longer you can do laundry! 🙂 I don’t wear skirts, but I love, love my Nike tempo shorts! I have a nice collection going on. So much easier to shop for work-out gear than regular clothing sometimes.

  5. I have so many race shirts, wicking shirts, and shorts! So. Many. I have this problem where I think I need a prize (read: workout gear) after every race/PR I complete! So, yes, I have two and a half drawers full. :/ I am obsessed with Lululemon skirts though!

I love how you organize your clothes. I’m going to have to re-organize my drawers. I still have all my smaller, cuter running clothes because I do believe I will fit into them again. And you will too!

Someday I’ll have to try the running skirts.

    • Yes! I definitely plan on fitting into my smaller running (and non running) clothes again! I haven’t given up the fight!

And yes, folding and rolling the clothes makes it much more accessible, and I get to see everything at once!

You should definitely give running skirts a try (I’m a big fan of skirts sports!)

I relate to so many of your comments! I just bought my first run skirt (Lululemon speed skirt) and I love it, but wanted to try others. I’ll have to look into skirt sports!
