So I already wrote a bit about Chiang Mai… There was this fun afternoon with tigers…
And this AMAZING day with elephants…
But we also did some exploring around Chiang Mai. I loved that city, even more than Bangkok, though smaller it also had plenty of markets and different restaurants. And even better: we could walk everywhere and our hotel was so much better than Bangkok (and cheaper!).
When we weren’t playing with tigers and riding elephants, we visited the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep Temple, where we hoped to see a view of the city, but it was too foggy for good pictures.
We also visited many temples around the city.
(Yes, as you can tell, I again had to cover myself up before entering a temple – at least it was free to borrow that!)
Our hotel!
Coolest bar ever (with bicycle seats – not really conducive to drinking though, right?)
No, we didn’t eat at McDonalds, but I had to take a picture of Ronald McDonald doing the Thai greeting!
Something on this temple doesn’t belong… (If it’s not obvious at first, look at your bottom left! Donald Duck? Really?)
View from the starbucks across from our hotel.
And after our taxi canceled to the airport, we hopped on a songthaew for the ride!
Chiang Mai is a great city, with a ton of options of things to do around town and outside town (yay for green space!). I was sad to leave and I’ll definitely be back!
