Pregnancy Update: 23 Weeks!

How far along?  23 Weeks – baby girl should be weighing more than a pound now!

Total weight gain/loss:  6lbs, UGH.  Yep, I seem to have put on 3lbs in a week.  Now with Angela in town and eating out and eating Halloween chocolate she brought (and I had been so good at avoiding it!), I’m kind of afraid how bad it’ll get by the time she leaves…

Maternity clothes?  My regular shirts are starting to look a bit tight and getting shorter, case in point:

Photo from last Saturday, can you see how the shirt is stretching out around the bump? And for my brother who thought I was just letting it all hang, let it be known that I still try to suck it in during these pictures. I’m just being less successful at it lately.

Stretch marks?  Nope.  Still faithfully slathering my almond oil and belly butter, but the way my stomach has expanded the last couple of weeks, I’m not sure how long my skin will hold out.  On the bright side, my belly is buttery soft.

Sleep:  Sleep this week has been horrible!  Have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep…

Best moment this week:  My full-body scrub and pre-natal massage, for a total of 2 hours worth of pampering.  So relaxing –and my skin is now sooooo soft!

Miss Anything?  Went to one of my favorite restaurants here, Alba, and I did miss drinking a sangria…

Movement:  Baby girl is moving daily now!  I even got some kicks that were pretty painful.

Food cravings:  Pretty much anything I see on TV.  For real.  Someone on TV is eating a donut?  I want a donut.  They’re eating fries?  I want fries.  They’re eating ice cream?  Now I want ice cream.  Pizza?  Oh, I can use some pizza.  Luckily, my laziness is usually bigger than my cravings, so I don’t actually indulge in them, unless they hit me while I’m already out.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Occasionally car sick.  No fun.

Have you started to show yet:  Still looking more fat than pregnant, and still haven’t had anyone that didn’t already know asking about my bump, but there’s definitely a huge bump there (apparently my uterus is the size of a soccer ball?  I have to keep telling this to myself anytime I feel fat).

Gender:  Girl!

Labor Signs:  None, thankfully, though heard Braxton Hicks contractions are supposed to start any day now.

Belly Button in or out?  In.

Wedding rings on or off?  On.  I take them off a couple of times a week just to make sure they don’t get stuck on there.

Happy or Moody most of the time:

Looking forward to:  Hiking Mt Pinatubo this weekend (it’s an active volcano, yo!) and possibly swimming with dolphins.  It will be super tiring, since it’s all quite a drive from Manila, and I may be banned from the swimming (Dr. Google tells me it’s completely safe, but the dolphins tend to give more attention to the pregnant person, ignoring the other folks, and that’s why it’s usually banned).  We’ll see how it goes.  Hope for good weather!

  1. Cute update! They say second trimester is the best, so enjoy! I was lucky to have a pretty easy third trimester also, so hopefully you will too. Have you started the nesting yet? By 23 weeks I think my son already had a closet full of clothes… If that craving hasn’t struck yet, don’t worry, it’s coming. 🙂

    • 2nd trimester is definitely going better than the first, that’s for sure!

I had a minor nesting phase when I washed all the cloth diapers a couple of weeks ago, but now it calmed down again. I’m planning on taking advantage of it to sort HHE and UAB so I’m not stuck doing that w a one month old…
