Pregnancy Update: 25, 26 & 27 Weeks

Yep, going on vacation meant I took all the belly pictures, but got none of the updates posted.  So here it is, catching up!

I am finally on my third trimester now, and no, it is NOT going by fast.  Maybe fast for all of you in the sidelines, but pregnancy has not treated me well, so this is taking forever.

How far along? 

25 Weeks:  As you can see taking pictures after 2 flights and a bit of an airport layover, I was bloated and huge (and it looks like I’m losing my butt, WTF?).

26 Weeks:  This was taken in the morning, pre-breakfast, before the belly had a chance to bloat up.  I’d like to think that this is how I look most of the time, but let’s face it, after eating, the belly sticks out.

27 Weeks:  Tonight Karl was my photographer, so the picture was taken after dinner, I’m huge again (and I really better get back to weightlifting, my arms look worse every week!).

For fun, I even put this together a couple of weeks ago to compare the belly, from weeks 22-25 there is a huge difference!  (No wonder the scale shows it too…)

Total weight gain/loss:  10lbs.  That means I can only gain 5 more in the next 3 months to stay within the weight goal my doctor gave me.  Doesn’t seem realistic at this point, but seeing our next trip is planned for the end of the month, and we’ll be staying put in Manila (with no travel and no guests!), we’re back to eating healthy, and hopefully I’m back to working out.

Maternity clothes?  I officially can’t wear non-maternity shirts (though I sleep with t-shirts and those are fine, even if a bit tight in the belly), but my dresses are still holding strong for the most part, and I think they’ll keep fitting through the end.

Stretch marks?  None yet, but the way the belly is going, not sure how much longer the skin is going to hold off.

Sleep:  Sleep has been horrible.  The best sleep I got was actually in Laos where we had magnificent blackout curtains in our hotel room (why, oh why, did I let Karl convince me not to get them for Manila, that I was going to get used to the morning light?  I never did get used to it, and now it’s getting much harder to fall asleep and stay asleep). 

Best moment this week:  Getting back to Manila and seeing Lucas and Lily!  I missed them so much I even cried during the trip.  Yeah, yeah, pregnancy hormones are likely to blame for that one, but also having one trip within a week of coming back from another one didn’t help.  I can officially say I’m traveled out – and our longest flight was only 2.5 hours, so I can’t even blame it on that!

Miss Anything?  It sucked not being able to join Karl for a drink during the trip.

Movement:  A couple of quiet days towards the end of the trip got me worried, but baby girl is back at kicking like crazy.

Food cravings:  Ice cream, cakes, caramel, pies, pretty much anything that has sugar on it.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Felt sick yesterday for no reason, but back to normal today.

Have you started to show yet:  Had a salesperson in Vietnam point at my belly and say “baby!” – though I think most people still assume I’m fat.  They keep getting surprised that I’m 6 months along, since the belly is so small and the rest of me is so big (ah, don’t you just love how Asians are outspoken in calling other people fat?  NOT!).  Heck, this is the belly I started with, as my stomach has never been my problem area – butt, boobs, thighs, arms?  Sure!  But I always had a small waist, damn it!  (And I was already knocked up when I took the picture below!)

Gender:  Girl!

Labor Signs:  A couple of really bad cramping days during the trip (luckily the doctor had given me medicine “just in case”) and I also woke up with pain a couple of days ago, but the same meds did the job to stop it.  Nothing since.

Belly Button in or out?  In, but stretched out so much it looks huge!

Wedding rings on or off?  On. 

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy, I think.  Just damn tired.

Looking forward to:  Having a weekend at home with no entertaining, no traveling, just staying put in Manila with my husband and pets!

  1. You look great! I’m curious, that your doctor advised you only to gain 15lbs? This seems like not a lot considering most recommendations for people at a normal weight are 20-30lbs. I think you look great and healthy and I can’t imagine trying to gain only 5 lbs in the last 13 weeks!

    Yes, I am also baffled at a suggestion of only 15lbs??? Even my tiny friends gained 20-25. I gained about 40 but I was all butt, hips and thighs LOL! My belly always measured “under” according to how far along I was. Anyways, at the end of the day don’t focus on the scale…what matters is that you and baby are healthy. Eat clean foods and maintain your exercise and you will be just fine…even if that means gaining 35lbs rather than 15 🙂

    • Yeah, the 15lbs is bc I started this thing overweight, having gained a lot of weight in the last couple of years (moving to a new country, eating out a lot, not running as much and later not at all due to injuries…). The 15lbs is right in line for the recommendation on the BMI scale of “overweight.”
