Turtles and Sardines!

These are similar, but different enough…  Again, like the other videos I posted earlier today, they’re just a few seconds long.

I love how graceful the turtle swims and how incredible the sardine wall is (pictures definitely don’t give it justice!).

This was from when we spotted our first turtle, before we swam closer to it.

Then we caught up to it, look how gracefully it swims…  It just glides in the water…

A whole different turtle on our last dive – this one just swam away from us, but it’s cool that you can see the remoras swimming underneath.

And now for the sardines.  This thing is AMAZING.  Seriously worth watching!  Can you believe all that dark cloud is made of billions of sardines?

And this one you can see them moving about pretty well (they form that “hole” whenever someone shines a light, or if the air bubbles get close).

Sardine Wall 2–Pescador Island

And lastly, one video showing a whole different perspective, the sardines swimming by in shallow water.

And these are all my underwater pictures and videos from the trip!  We’re off to Coron tomorrow, not coming back until Tuesday, so I might be quiet for the next few days.  (We’ll only go diving twice while we’re there, but to old Japanese shipwrecks.  This should be interesting…)

I’ll post a little travel review of Moalboal, Cebu, soon!

Videos of the dives!

You knew this was coming…  Along with the pictures, I got some great videos as well.

They’re all only a few seconds long, so it won’t take too long of your time and there’s no sound, except for the bubbles from our breath, so feel free to turn the sound off.

First, the whitetip reef shark in Batangas, from when we got our advanced certification.

Then the octopus!  There were two of them, the one swimming is great!

Octopus–Pescador Island

And a sea snake!!!  Totally cool!

Snake–Talisay Wall, Moalboal, Cebu

Another one from Talisay Wall, a sea worm (cucumber?) on the move!

Talisay Wall

And lastly, the coral reef as we were moving to shallow water on Talisay Wall as well…  This is the longest video at over a minute, and it was a big shaky at first, as I was trying to avoid filming Karl’s fins but I got the hang of it soon enough.  Beautiful huh?

Talisay Wall

More videos to come like the AMAZING sardine wall, and the turtle swimming.  They deserve a post of their own!

Anyone knows why my videos show up tiny on reader but fine on the site?  This is frustrating 😦

Yes, diving pictures. Again. Yay!

Part 3

Can you tell I loved diving?  (I thought this would be the last installment, but my inability to chose pictures, means I’ll have to post one last one…)

Talisay Wall, Moalboal, Cebu

Pretty fish…

Another sea slug!

P1000324

Pipefish!

P1000332

Lionfish – again!  Really, they were everywhere, but that doesn’t make them less exciting!

P1000338

The plants and their different colors were beautiful.  The coral reefs are like a garden designed by someone who was high.  No, really.  That’s the best description I have of it for the non-divers reading this!

P1000341

P1000342

Starfish!  This one looks like a marshmallow.

P1000344

A moray eel!

P1000348

Pretty blue starfish!

P1000352

This type of coral looks like a vase, no?

P1000362

More plants and starfish…

Doesn’t this coral look like a little garden full of little blue butterflies?

More dive pictures!

Part 2

We had a total of 7 dives during this trip, three in Pescador Island, so you won’t see seven different sets of pictures.  But here is more…

Turtle Bay Resort House Reef, Moalboal, Cebu

I was so excited to spot this turtle I wanted to scream!  We only saw one turtle on this dive but it made the whole trip worth it!

P1000398

It really was gorgeous!

P1000400

A Frogfish!  Can you see it?  Right in the middle of the coral, the white body laying there.  So easy to miss!

P1000412

Karl posing next to one of the coral fans.

P1000414

So pretty!

P1000419

This whole time I’m thinking those balls were eggs, only to be told that they’re “bubble coral” (I doubt that’s the scientific name for it, so feel free to correct me).

P1000422

A whole different world out there…

P1000425

I love all the little sea slugs!

P1000431

More bubble coral!

P1000434

Pretty blue fish…

P1000442

Another pretty, but solitary fish.

P1000450

Ok, so I have no idea what the green thing is.

P1000465

More cute sea slugs!

P1000467

A sea cucumber!  (The size doesn’t translate well in pictures but it was around 1.5 feet long.)

P1000468

Lionfish!

P1000469

Forgot what type of fish!  (I really need to buy a book…)

P1000476

Starfish!  (It would not be fun to step on one of those…)

P1000485

Part 3 to follow…
